Western Tradition Partnership, a grassroots lobbying organization with a presence in several states, has launched an aggressive campaign against the designation of so-called "Roadless Wilderness"
encompassing 24 million acres focused in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and smaller parts of Washington and Oregon - H.R.980 or "NREPA". Sign their online petition against the Federal Land Grab HERE.
Partnership spokesman Jacob Leis said "H.R. 980 (NREPA), sponsored by eco-radical Carolyn McCarthy (D-NYC), would make it a crime to ride so much as a bicycle on a quarter of the state of Idaho, as well as another 14.5 Million acres in Montana and Wyoming."

"Folks do not move away from the urban areas and suburbs to places like Pinedale, WY, or Coeur d'Alene, Idaho so that radical environmentalists and their latte-sipping friends can shut down the trails and activities of the West from faraway oceanfront penthouses," continued Leis.
Besides destroying the off-road, biking and hiking opportunities that keep Western families healthy, Leis also explained the mortal danger of such legislation. In recent years, fire crews were blocked from fighting two of the worst forest fires in recent years by the draconian "wilderness" prohibition against "mechanized travel".
Western Tradition Partnership (WTP) explained this is also a states' rights issue, because the Federal Government crafted agreements to keep lands productive and accessible by their host states. "In this time of
economic downturn, it's an outrage that the Feds would shut down some of the most resource-rich, productive land from virtually all human activity in pursuit of a few votes from radical environmentalists," stated Leis, "Without proper care and stewardship, these forests likely be consumed by the Pine Bark Beetle, then burn, killing all the animals these eco-extremists claim to love. What they really love is to control other people at the end of a government gun."
One thing that sets WTP apart from many of the solid pro-access and multiple use organizations, is its mission to help citizens hold politicians accountable for their positions on environmental issues ranging from promotong domestic energy production to fighting Federal and State takings of land, mineral and water rights through regulation or legislation. Inclosing, Leis quipped, "Saying not-so-nice things about land-grabbing politicians doesn't get us invited to many D.C. cocktail parties, but the way politicians in Washington and even in our state capitols want to treat their own outdoor-loving constituents, that's just fine with us."
Western Tradition Partnership is dedicated to promoting reponsible natural resource development, land use, and property rights, while fighting the excesses of radical environmentalism. Visit their website at www.westerntradition.org and if you can, join them at www.westerntradition.org/join
